Víkingur Reykjavík secured their place in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after earning a dramatic 2-2 draw away to ETO FC Győr, progressing 3-2 on aggregate. Holding a narrow 1-0 advantage from the first leg in Iceland, the Icelandic champions showed great composure under pressure and delivered a resilient performance to eliminate the Hungarian side.

ETO FC Győr started brightly and took the lead through a penalty converted by Milán Vitális in the 38th minute. Shortly before halftime, an unfortunate own goal by Sveinn Gísli Þorkelsson in stoppage time (45+1) doubled the hosts’ advantage and temporarily put the Hungarian club ahead on aggregate. However, Víkingur responded brilliantly after the break. Daniel Hafsteinsson scored twice, finding the net in the 34th and 55th minutes to completely turn the tie around. Despite late pressure from Győr, the visitors defended with determination and held on for a 2-2 draw. The final whistle confirmed a memorable qualification for Víkingur Reykjavík, whose resilience and clinical finishing proved decisive over the two legs.
